Timber & Tools with Carlos

We love a man who's good with his hands

Saws, gouges, hammers, drill bits, and that delicious smell of timber–there’s no doubt about it, Carlos Nuade’s workshop is a man cave with a capital Male Monday. Lucky for us, he let a couple of girls in for a tour.

Hi Carlos! Thanks for having us, we promise not to touch anything. OK, let’s start with the basics: age and star sign: I’m 29 and an aquarius

Do we detect an accent? Where are you from? Puebla, Mexico

And your day job is Lumber Juan? Well actually, that’s my night job. My day job is as an Integrated Producer at Anomaly.

Tell us a little more about this night job of yours: It started as a test of my manhood and loyalty to my macho Mexican blood: I had to prove to my woman that I could build a dining table, rather than buying one.

Oh! Macho man! So what’s your favorite type of wood? The older, grainier wood that has a lot of history–it all adds character.

And your tool? The hand planer, it saves me from my f@*k ups.

What’s your daily uniform: Button-down during the day and working apron at the night

Tell us more about YOU: as a teenager, who did you worship? My grandfather

And who was your first celebrity crush? Tiffani-Amber Thiessen. No comment.

What’s your dream car? A black 1968 Dodge Charger

Go-to karaoke song? Whitney Houston “I Will Always Love You”

What are you currently obsessed with? Hank Williams

Name some of your guilty pleasures: Ben & Jerry’s, bacon, and baking.

You just got dumped and the world is caving in. How do you pull through? Lots of running, good music, and a one way ticket to a place I’ve never been to before.

Finish this sentence, women just want… Is there an actual answer to that?

Good call. We know the answer is out there somewhere. OK, who are your dream dinner party guests and what would you cook for them?
Will Ferrell, Ron Swanson, Steve Jobs, Johnny Cash, and of course, my beautiful girlfriend. I would make them my favorite dish, spaghetti with spicy salciccia ragu.

Your motto: “Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion”–Muhammad Ali.
