Meet the #Male Monday: Dan

Say hey to Dan: occasional Olympic weightlifter, part time pilot & full time honey

Dan saved the day this morning when he shared his tip for spilled candle wax, now he and his perfectly distributed facial hair are back. Grab the DL on the DM below!

Give us Dan-101: Full name, age, star sign, and day job:
Dan Murphy, 27, Gemini. I’m blessed to be able to say that I am a full time model.

Got any hobbies?
As if I don’t travel enough for work, in my free time I fly small single engine airplanes. Another passion of mine is Olympic weightlifting.

Oh, cool, casual Olympic weightlifting. Us too. If you could host the ultimate Christmas dinner who would you invite?
Well, where some people might say a past president or famous actor, but I’m going to say Giada De Laurentis. She is a famous Italian chef—so not only will she bring good conversation to the table with all of her travels, but maybe she can bring some of her delicious food too! Oh, and she’s beautiful.

You, Sir, are speaking our language. Good food + good conversation = good times. OK, what’s the best holiday gift you’ve ever received?
Last year was pretty awesome: My parents arranged for me to go up in a Cessna 172 with a flight instructor for a lesson. I’ve been hooked ever since.

And given?
Not quite as lavish, but one year, I made some peanut butter fudge for my grandmother and put it in a fancy tin. I’ve never seen her light up the way she did when she saw a whole tin of PB Fudge, just for her.

Pretty sure we’ d never make it to the post office! What’s your favorite meal during the holidays?
When I was a little kid, my grandpa taught me how to make an open-faced turkey sandwich and ever since that’s just the way I do things, regardless of who’s cooking.

Favorite holiday movie and why:
Growing up in Hong Kong we didn’t get a lot of English TV channels. But we had this one VHS Tape (remember those?) of The Christmas Story that we played every year. So now we all have a running joke of the famous quote from the movie, “You’ll shoot your eye out kid!” I think that’s what the holidays are about though, coming together and passing along traditions and enjoying your family.

Do you and your family have any fun holiday family traditions?
A couple of years ago, we started this tradition where we make our favorite holiday treat (cookies, caramels, e.t.c.) and send half of it to each other. It’s nice to get a little bit of your favorites and not eat the whole batch yourself!

If money weren’t an object, what would you buy your mom this Christmas?
My mom always wanted an old school VW Bug, and I always tell her that one day I’ll buy it for her.

All I want for Christmas is….
My friends and family to get everything they deserve this year.

What’s your favorite holiday movie? *cough* Scroog’d *cough*. E-mail us and!
